12th Aug. "Fund managment & Internal control" seminar in Shanghai

"Fund managment & Internal control" seminar was held in Shanghai by international financial management association (IFMA) on 12th August. Roy Lo, Chairman of Hong Kong IFMA, was invited to be the speaker of seminar. After the seminar, Mr. Lo send email to all participated students for appreciating their warm and active response, and also offered some advices on their future learning.

IFMC (Shanghai) establish on 3rd June,2006

With the constant increasing of IFM (International Finance Manager) in Shanghai, IFMC (International Finance Manager Club) was established on 3 rd June which can provide latest information of IFMA and better membership service for the member.

Strengthen the cooperation between Chinese and French enterprise, a meeting is held between Shanghai and Paris

“2005 Shanghai and Ile de France meeting between government and enterprise” was held in Shanghai International Convention Center on 29 September 2005.

Nearly 100 mayors of Ile de France and 50 people of France enterprise came to Shanghai, together with 19 head of the country, economic expert, and entrepreneur. The meeting is used to discuss about the political and economic issues.

Vice mayoral of Shanghai, Mr Tang Jizxuan expressed a warm welcome to an honored guest. He said, through the conversation and the communication between two sides cities leadership and entrepreneur, it could promote the mutual understanding, develop the fellowship and further promote the cooperation in the field of economic trade, culture, science and technology.

The chairman of Ile de France association, the president of Shanghai Media Group, the partner of Deloitte & Touche gave a speech in the meeting. Deloitte partner, Jens Ewert said, the ways and the condition for the French enterprise to enter the China market is depended on the decision on the risk strategy and the cost control.

This event held successfully, and it draws lessons from the good development experience of the Ile de France for Shanghai. The head of Shanghai and Ile de France would like to hold this kind of conversation periodically, so as to increase opportunity for the business.

Finance Case Competition 2005

In order to provide an opportunity for undergraduate students to apply their knowledge in the actual business field, IFMA and ShineWing (HK) CPA Limited jointly held a Finance Case Competition for all undergraduate university students studying in business stream. Through participating in the competition, a student will be able to learn team working skills, leadership skills, written and oral presentation skills, and analytical skills.

IPO Seminar

IFM continuous education center and College of Continuing Educational, Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University jointly held an "IPO Seminar" at Shenzhen Airlines Hotel on 10th September 2005. We have invited Mr. Rex Yeung, Financial Controller & Company Secretary of Dynasty Fine Wine Group Limited; Ms. Ingrid Wu, Director of AAC Acoustic Technologies Holding Inc.; Ms. Tracy Zhuang, Secretary of Board, AAC Acoustic Technologies Holding Inc.; Mr. Vincent Tsang, Chairman & CEO of Proactive Technology Holdings Limited; Mr. Wong Kok Ying from Shenyin Wanguo (H.K.) Limited and Mr. Franki Lui, Audit manager of ShineWing (HK) CPA Limited as our guests. During the discussion panel, all participants grab the chance to ask our guests different issues about IPO. Our guests are also pleased to share their own view and experience in overseas IPO.

Advisor meeting

On 21st July 2005, our President, Mr. Roy Lo held a meeting with our committee members, advisors and trainers sharing the latest development of the Association while discussing its future advancement. Advisors express their view enthusiastically. These opinions will definitely help the Association's future growth. After this meeting, we have a dinner gathering together and enjoy a wonderful night.

Hong Kong IPO Yearbook 2004/2005 – On sale at Hong Kong Book Fair 2005

Hong Kong IPO Yearbook 2004/2005 is followed and issued by International Financial Management Association. This yearbook introduces all initial public offerings and listing change on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange from the July 1, 2004 to June 17, 2005. It illustrated the performance of 36 Main board company and 8 GEM board company. All information are consulted by InvestStars Strategic Consultancy Limited. Seminar on China Investment Opportunity

As China is developing rapidly in recent years, many foreign investors would also like to enter this market. However, due to cultural difference, language barrier and misunderstanding of the situation in China, many of them failed.

We are invited to join a seminar of China Investment Opportunity in Houston. The objective of this seminar is to share latest development of China, in respecting economic development, foreign investment trend and future opportunity in different sectors. Our executive president Mr. Lowell Lo was invited to be the honorary speaker of this seminar. Through this seminar, participants gain more knowledge of China's latest development.

International Financial Management Association (IFMA) and China Association of Chief Financial Officers (CACFO) start the dual authentication of International Finance Managers (IFM)

On 1st June 2005, the press conference of International Financial Management Association (IFMA) and China Association of Chief Financial Officers (CACFO) was grandly launched in Beijing. The objective of this press conference is to announce that IFMA and CACFO will dually authenticate the profession of International Finance Managers (IFM). Participants of the press conference include Vice Chairman of the Finance and Economics Council of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, ex-Vice Minister of Ministry of Finance, Chairman of China Association of Chief Financial Officers Zhang Youcai; ex-Assistant to Minister of Ministry of Finance, Chairman of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council Liu Changkun; irector-General of OSTA Chen Yu; and vice- Director-General of OSTA Zhang Yonglin.

Professionals and advisors of IFMA Asia Headquarters, IFMA China Headquarters, Regional council and industry council of CACFO also joined this conference.

IFM qualification authentication is the certification system which specially designed by IFMA to strengthen the knowledge of financial managers. In May 2004, IFM gets the approval from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the PRC and launched IFM qualification authentication in China. Based on the common vision of the current and future development of financial management in China, IFMA and CACFO decided to cooperate in launching IFM qualification authentication in China area. Starting onwards, the certification of IFM will be signed and presented by IFMA. This certificate will also be authenticated by CACFO and marked with resisted sign of Ministry of Labour and Social Security. This dual authentication project has been reported to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the PRC as requested by regulations.

The co-operation between IFMA and CACFO represent the development of IFM qualification authentication has entered a new stage in China. This alliance will enable both parties to utilize their resources and professions in further developing IFM. It will enhance China's development in financial management and help its professionals to become globalize.

Denver University Executive MBA Group Visit to IFMA China Headquarters

Denver University Executive MBA group visited IFMA China Headquarters on 2nd June 2005. There are total 29 participants joined on that day. The Secretary General of IFMA China Headquarters Peng Jianping and all staffs in IFMA China Headquarters showed warm welcome to all guests. The main objective of this visit is providing an opportunity for IFMA advisors, IFM students and the EMBA students to have an acculturation in different issues.

University of Denver is a famous university in United States, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is also the alumni of it. University of Denver Daniels College of Business is top 50 business colleges in the United States while its accounting department is one of the best accounting colleges in the States. Director of its School of Accountancy, Ron Kucic, is the present chairman of IFMA.

The Executive President of IFMA, Mr. Lo Wah Wai; the executive of Chinese Expert Council of IFMA, Ms. Lu Xia Wei; the vice-president of Foundation Stone Investment Co. IFM / SIFM Certificate-Awarding Ceremony in Shenzhen

The ceremony was held on 15th April 2005. It is the IFM/SIFM Certificate-Giving ceremony for our first batch of IFM/SIFM graduates. We have invented Mr. Charles Crane, General Manager of Coverdale Trust Services Limited and Ms. Barbara O'Neal, Partner of O'Neal Webster as our guest speakers. The presentation topic was “ Implication of New Companies Act 2004 on BVI Companies Operation”. Here are some pictures on the ceremony.

Our first Batch of IFM/SIFM graduates in Shenzhen

2nd International Finance Manager Annual Meeting (with IFM Certificate-Awarding Ceremony)

The meeting started from 14th April, 2005 to 17th April, 2005. The foundation is to flash back the development of CFO in China, clearly identify the requirements and qualifications for a modern CFO, relocate the value of CFO in this revolutionary age and explore the development path for the career as a CFO. We invited experts from both the government and financial sector to be our guest speakers including Mr. Xu Shan Da from State Taxation Administration, Mr. Dong Gong Wen from Citibank China, Mr. Liu Jian De from PricewaterhouseCoopers China and more. The first IFM Certificate-Giving Ceremony on 14th April was the beginning of the 2nd International Finance Manager Annual Meeting.

2004 Beijing International Investment and Financial Planning Expo and Forum

IFMA was one of the professional supporting unit of “2004 Beijing International Investment and Financial Planning Expo and Forum” organized by China World Trade Center Co.,Ltd. During 11-14 November 2004 held in China World Trade Center and China World Hotel•Beijing. The theme of the event was “Managing Wealth•Making Investment”. This Expo included a opening ceremony, “Beijing International Investment and Financing Forum”, lectures presented by scholars and experts in the respecting field and activities such as “Final of the National Family Financial Planning Competition” and “Competition of Miss Representative of Bank Cards”.

British Virgin Island Visit

We were invited by British Virgin Island to visit their financial service commission which is responsible for regulating international business activities in the BVI. During this intercommunication, we introduced the system of the IFM certificate.

International Finance Manager Annual Meeting

The annual meeting on 15th October 2004 focused on a series of topics about financial markets and financial management presented the essential factors for registering as listed company in Hong Kong and the problems needed to concern, avoid and resolve during the listing process. Many participated financial experts shared the concepts on financial management and suggested creative thinking, problem solving efficiency and information exchange during the annual meeting.

Shanghai Retailing Corporations Hong Kong Tour

This Tour invited industrial and commercials professionals to explain the details of CEPA, the impact of CEPA to Hong Kong and China, and the future economic structure of Hong Kong. In addition, in order to let participants to have better understanding of the real situation in Hong Kong, visiting local corporations were provided.

Topics included the objectives of establishment of CEPA, CEPA details, involved businesses in CEPA, long term and short term impact of CEPA to China and Hong Kong, the ways to find suitable partners to facilitate the increment of capital and the development of business, the ways of making use of Hong Kong traders' foreign trade network to enlarge its business scale and the sale of products and services, the ways to induct Hong Kong products to China by increasing its competitiveness under zero tariff and the cooperative policies between China and Hong Kong to implement CEPA.

The invited participants included Tianjin and Shanghai Putong Officials etc. and the guest speaker was Mr. Tsang Wai Yip, Business Development Manager of HK NET Company Limited.

Tianjin Catering Hong Kong Tour

To cope with the fast development of Tianjin catering, this tour associated with training course focusing on the matters of running catering service, before and after of the renovation of catering, making participants have better and direct understanding of the changes of catering management. The invited speakers of this program were the representatives of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, who could share professionals catering experience with the participants.Topics included the establishment of the catering corporation brand; food and beverage cost management, modern kitchen management and cost management, food safety management etc.
